The Story of RÁTH

RÁTH began with a simple idea:

Ireland isn’t just a place you come from,  it’s something you carry.

The brand takes its name from the ancient ringfort behind our home.

The journey begins with material gathered from select locations across Ireland  refined into a stable mineral form through a precise and enduring process.

Each RÁTH timepiece contains a sealed inclusion of refined mineral material, derived from the same landscapes where those ancient circles still rest.

We are a family business living and working in County Derry, in the shadow of the Sperrin Mountains. Our home, RÁTHview House, takes its name from the RÁTH behind it.

From the RÁTH, the land opens across the Sperrins and, on a clear day, stretches toward the Donegal Atlantic coastline.

These coordinates mark the landscape where our story begins.

What is a RÁTH?

A RÁTH is an ancient Irish ringfort. A circular earthwork enclosure once used as a protected homestead.

These were places of protection, community, and identity.

In the same way, each RÁTH watch is designed to be a small sanctuary of time: grounded in tradition, built with precision, and made to journey with you.

Long before clocks, before cities, before borders, Ireland marked time differently;

in circles carved into the land.

A RÁTH was more than a dwelling.

It was protection, identity, belonging, a quiet promise that no matter how fierce the storm, those within the circle endured. 

Craft and Design

Our watches combine Gaelic design cues  from Triquetra inspired hands to Celtic influenced engraving.

The result: watches that don’t just tell the time, but tell a story.
